Sevierville, Tenn. ( March 30th)– Amid the increasing need for Personal Protection Equipment for first responders, Joe Baker, Ole Smoky Moonshine founder announced today that his company will donate a in-house produced batch of hand sanitizer to the local County Sheriff’s Dept.

Nuevo Calendario 2013 de las Bibliotecas del Condado Sevier


2013 SCPLS Calendar of Events.

“Hay tanto que ver, tanto que hacer!” al parecer ese será el nuevo lema para el Sistema de Bibliotecas Públicas del Condado Sevier (SCPLS). Nuevas actividades, nuevos programas, nuevas clases, nuevos tiempos de cuentos … la lista sigue y sigue. ¿Cómo es que una persona va a tener toda esta información, para poder asistir a algunos de estos eventos divertidos e informativos?  un calendario, por supuesto!

Los Amigos del Sistema de Bibliotecas Públicas del Condado Sevier (SCPLS) han copatrocinado el Calendario 2013 SCPLS que contiene los eventos anuales programados actualmente tales como lectura de cuentos, reuniones de club de libros, programas de cine, clases de computación, reuniones y programas de los Amigos de la Biblioteca – incluyendo la venta de libros usados, servicios comunitarios y reuniones de clubes mensuales, junta de la biblioteca y otras reuniones y eventos especiales …. como ya se dijo, la lista sigue y sigue!

¡Qué gran idea tener tiempo para planificar, asistir y participar en eventos aún teniendo  vidas ocupadas, todos los días! El Calendario de Eventos 2013 SCPLS está a la venta por un tiempo muy limitado en los mostradores de Circulación de la Biblioteca de la Familia King, 408 High Street, en Sevierville  y la Biblioteca Sucursal Kodak, 319 West Dumplin Valley Road, en Kodak.

Cada copia del calendario sencillo cuesta $ 5.00 y los ingresos de las ventas del calendario ayudará a los Amigos de la Biblioteca  para financiar eventos adicionales, libros y otros artículos para las bibliotecas!

TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR DIABETES! AT THE SCPLS KING FAMILY LIBRARY


 Sevierville, Tenn.— What is Take Charge of Your Diabetes? The program Take Charge of your Diabetes, sponsored by the Sevier County UT Extension Office, is designed as a fun, skill-building program for people living with diabetes. During the six-week, free of charge program, attendees will learn to take day-to-day responsibility for their diabetes care while gaining the necessary skills to manage their diabetes. Learning how to work effectively with their health care professionals will also be part of the program.

 Anyone living with diabetes can attend the 6-week program beginning on February 20 and ending March 26. The weekly sessions are from 10:00AM – 12:00PM on Mondays and will be held at the SCPLS King Family Library, 408 High Street, in Sevierville. Registration is required. FRIENDS OF KING FAMILY LIBRARY SEPTEMBER 15 MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT


SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The newly-formed group, Friends of the King Family Library, is pleased to announce a general members’ meeting in the Burchfield Room at the King Family Library, 408 High Street, Sevierville, on Thursday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m.  All current members, and those interested in membership, are welcome to attend. (Membership is free of charge this year.) Bonnie Voit, President of the Friends of the King Family Library said, “We hope to see our Friends group grow in number, so we can effectively support our outstanding library and make a positive difference in its outreach.”

There will be a brief business meeting including a report on recent activities like supporting the library system’s successful Summer Reading Program and the popular King Family Library’s Teen Program. Details on the upcoming 2011 Used Book Sale beginning September 23rd at the King Family Library will also be discussed. This highly anticipated book sale is sponsored and run by all three Sevier County Library System’s Friends groups—King Family Library, Kodak, and Seymour.  Volunteers for the sale are still needed and can sign up at the meeting.

A program will follow featuring John Alexander, co-author of Firestorm at Gettysburg and Fred McMahan, retired Gatlinburg businessman, entertainer, and subject of the biography,  Auto Parts, Pickin’ & Politickin’ by Dick McHugh.

There will also be refreshments and door prizes, including 2 books, each signed by the author: In Country by Bobbie Ann Mason and The Grass is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank by Erma Bombeck.
