KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—Bliss Home features Jennifer Simpson for the December’s First Friday event. A reception will be held at Bliss Home, 29 Market Square, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 2.
Simpson finds her inspiration in earth, nature and herself. Her mantra for her work is “finding your happy place” and it truly comes across in her collection.
“My goal as an artist is to elevate the ordinary, the common-place, to the level of art. I feel it’s easy to take a sweeping vista or beautiful sunset and visually record its beauty, but what about the little things? The clover under our feet, the clouds that float above us every day, or even trees reflected in a puddle – seeing beauty in these places requires that we see through different eyes.”
Simpson is a Knoxville based artist who uses a unique mixed media process to create one of a kind pieces of art based on childhood recollections as well as current daydreams. She has exhibited her art up and down the east coast as well as private collections in the United States, Australia, China, the UK and Sweden. Her work has been featured in many mediums such as Indie Icing, Diary of a Mod Housewife, House Beautiful Magazine and on ‘Live at Five at Four’ on WBIR, a Knoxville television station.
“It would do us all good if we could live in the moment and observe the beauty around us instead of focusing on what we did yesterday or what we have planned for later on. If my artwork plays a small part in you doing that then I feel I have accomplished something worthwhile and beautiful.”
Her art will be featured beginning December 2 and remain through the month.
