NASHVILLE – Tennessee Health Commissioner John J. Dreyzehner, MD, MPH, issued the following statement on Tennessee being ranked 39th by America’s Health Rankings®:
“While we still have a lot of work ahead of us, I am encouraged by the state’s improvement in ranking. More encouraging still is the fact that our determinants remain better than our outcomes, which suggests that we are moving in the right direction. This is a positive testament to Tennesseans from all walks of life, of public, private and non-profit entities, for whom poor health rankings have been unacceptable and of our state’s ability to make positive incremental change in many areas. We will continue this work focusing on the health of our population. We look forward to working and collaborating with partners around the state as we build further momentum for continuous improvement in the health of Tennesseans of all ages.”
